As I paused to admire this immense space, two African elephants wandered into view. They were foraging in the grass, using their feet to kick up dust and uncover hidden morsels. I never discovered exactly what they sought, but the moment was unforgettable. Elephants, usually commanding attention by their sheer size were dwarfed by the grandeur of the wilderness. Their presence highlighted the grandeur of the African skies and the majesty of open wilderness. Even the largest land mammal can seem small beneath such boundless space.
